The Retail Energy Code Company (RECCo) is a not-for-profit organisation that works to make the retail energy market work more efficiently and effectively for industry and end consumers. As part of managing the Retail Energy Code, we are responsible for delivering and improving vital services, from the Central Switching Service to the Energy Theft Tip Off Service. We also run programmes of work to improve these services and to drive positive change within the retail energy market. Overall, our aim is to help make the retail energy market efficient, effective and aligned with the Net Zero transition whilst delivering positive consumer outcomes.

The RECCo Board was established in 2019 and initially comprised industry representatives with skills and experience pertinent to the establishment of an integrated retail energy industry governance organisation. Following a highly successful recruitment campaign of 6 (six) Non-Executive Directors in the period 2021-2023 the Board has evolved to be comprised of individuals with a broad range of skills and expertise to support the future development of the organisation, including expertise across energy supply, data and digitisation, commercial services in utilities, Net Zero, energy networks and consumer advocacy.

This Board is now seeking to recruit a new Chair, following the conclusion of Dr. Chris Anastasi’s successful two term tenure.  The new Chair of RECCo will lead this well-established Board and will have the opportunity to work with an experienced, dynamic senior management team. They will ensure that the RECCo Board, and Executive Team, meet the REC Objectives and provide an independent and impartial perspective. They will further ensure that the Board conducts its affairs in an open and transparent manner; acting with integrity, leading by example and promoting the desired culture. The Chair will be responsible for setting and overseeing the Company's purpose, values and strategy.

We are looking for someone who has a strong affinity with RECCo’s not-for-profit status, its mission and values, but able also to operate successfully in the commercial space. Candidates will need to have demonstrable understanding and/or experience of working within a regulated sector, with proven ability to act in an ambassadorial role and engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders at a senior level across industry, regulators and Government.

The role requires someone with an appropriate mix of leadership experience (at Board level although not necessarily as Chair), strategic vision, ability to lead through transformation and change, and with an innovative approach to support RECCo in its role as a retail thought-leader.

This is an exciting time to join a well-regarded and developing organisation.
