Trustees

Guide and support us in taking forward our new mission!

We are looking for three Trustees to join our Board in 2022.

The Vegetarian Society is a UK based charity at the forefront of ongoing work to inspire people to stop eating meat and adopt vegetarian and vegan diets for the benefit of animals, people and the planet. We are proud to be supported by our patrons Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney.

Formed in 1847, we are the oldest Vegetarian Society in the world, with a rich history of activism over the past 175 years. However, our work is now more urgent than ever because of the unfolding global climate and biodiversity crisis.

As an ambitious and progressive organisation, with a new and exciting vision and mission, we are determined to expand our reach and engage a wider group of people, from a diverse range of backgrounds.

This is an exciting time for the Society. Together with our new CEO, we are committed to further developing the charity, building off our new mission and refreshing our brand, our digital offer, our campaigns and our member offer.

To support this process, we are now looking to recruit three new Trustees to join our Board and support our CEO and Executive Team, as they develop and take forward our new strategic plan.

We value professional expertise but also lived experience and crucially we firmly believe that a diversity of experience and expertise makes us a stronger organisation.

In particular, we are seeking candidates with experience in financial management and charity governance, food and the food sector, fundraising, campaigning, marketing or membership.

Recognising that people from certain backgrounds are under-represented in this sector, we are particularly keen to receive applications from people of colour, people with disabilities and people who identify as being LGBTQ+.
As a Trustee you will, of course, fully support our charitable objects and relish the opportunity to act as an ambassador for the Vegetarian Society.

If you feel ready to take on this challenge, we’d love to hear from you, and look forward to reading your application.
