We’re looking for three passionate new trustees to help make our mission a reality.
These are unique roles, with the opportunity and privilege to support change across England and Wales, helping to provide the advice people need for the problems they face and improve the policies and practices that affect people's lives.
We can all face problems that seem complicated or intimidating. At Citizens Advice we believe no one should have to face these problems without good quality, independent advice.
That’s why we’re here: to give people the knowledge and the confidence they need to and their way forward - whoever they are, and whatever their problem.
We are looking for new Trustees to join a team who are collectively responsible for the overall management, governance and strategic direction of the national charity, and for developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with governing documents, legal and regulatory guidelines.
You should have a proven record of achievement in your own field, operating at a strategic level, confronting challenges and driving through initiatives – we particularly welcome applications from individuals with a background in people or human resources, equity, diversity and inclusion and finance and pensions.
It is essential that our trustees are inspired by our mission as a membership organisation serving a network, which in turn serves wider society. The ability to devote sufficient time and actively contribute is also key to fulfilling the role. Trustees must be independent, maintain their independence and tell the Board if they feel beholden to any interest. They are expected to always demonstrate high standards of probity and to ensure that Citizens Advice operates responsibly and ethically, in line with its own values and those of the wider voluntary sector.
Trustees are expected to contribute between 10-14 days per year, including ad hoc activities and advice, often by email or in online meetings.
